Introduction:

Nestled in the snow-capped peaks of Garwhal Himalayas in the Chamoli
district of Uttarakhand, Auli is one of the less explored hill stations
of India. Positioned nearby to one of the famous Chardham destination
Badrinath, Auli comes alive in the winter season. Perched at an altitude
of 2,500 m to 3,050m above the sea level, the vast snow-covered
landscape of Auli is a paradise for skiing. Skiers from every part of

Places to visit:
Artificial lake: Auli encompasses one of the world's highest man
made lake. It is located near the Clifftop club, a private hotel. The
water of this lake is used to feed the snow guns stationed along the ski
slopes. It moreover helps to extend the ski season.
Hanuman Lake: It is an ancient temple, dedicated to lord
Hanuman. It is believed that this temple has some connection with
Ramayana. According to a legend, Hanuman has taken some rest at Auli
while his journey to Sanjivani mountain from Sri Lanka.
Joshimath: Located at a distance of 8 km (4.97 miles) from Auli,
Joshimath has a temple founded by Adi Shankaracharya. This place has a
temple of Narshimsha, an incarnation of Vishnu. Joshimath is also serve
as the resting place for the pilgrims going to Badrinath.

Prayag: This place is famed as the holy confluence of river
Alaknanda and Dauli Ganga.
Badrinath: It is one of the pilgrimage destination of Chardham
circuit. Auli is positioned on the Badrinath route.

time to visit Auli would be from December to March. During this time
period, the entire land of Auli covers with thick layer of snow.
How To Reach:
By Road: Both State run and private buses are there which
operates from various cities like Delhi, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar
and Joshimath. Even you can hire cabs or can use rope ways to reach,
Auli from Joshimath.
By Rail: Rishikesh, located at a distance of 234 km (146.02
miles) is the nearest railhead to Auli. Shatabdi express operates from
Delhi to Rishikesh.
By Air: The nearest airport to Auli is Dehradun's Jolly Grant
Airport, which is about 298 km(185.17 miles) away. Indian Airlines
flight operates thrice in a week from Delhi to Dehradun
