Snow fed mountainous rivers that meander through Ladakh, Rishikesh, Garwhal, Dakpathar and Ramganga in Corbett National Park creates some soft and hard rapids that are best for white water rafting in India.

Among them, rafting expedition at Rishikesh is the ideal one to have an awesome of experience of this thrilling sport. Rishikesh has fantastic rapids that ranges from 4 to 6 grade. Some of the Himalayan rivers that flows southwards like Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Indus , Zanskar and Teesta. Even Devprayag, the meeting point of both Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers is perfect for the amateur to learn and enjoy the excitement of rafting a because in this area river offers some fine Grade III rapids and two Grade IV rapids.

Apart from these rivers there are some more rivers that can also be selected for white water rafting such as Tons, Spiti, Sutlej, Chandra Bhaga, Narmada, Subansari, Sarda. Beside north India, adventure enthusiasts can also choose Kali river that flows through Dandeli National Park in Karnataka also as white water rafting destination in southern part of our country.

Go for white water rafting during the months of September to November and March to May as because at this time of the year monsoon rains and melting of snows in the mountains enhance the level of water in the rivers.

River Rafting in Himachal PradeshAlong with rafting expedition, adventure buffs can also enjoy camping at the sandy beaches on the banks of river Ganges. Rishikesh and Shivpuri has some comfortable camping options which provides good meal. Savoring on delicious food sitting near campfire is a moment to cherish for lifetime.

But, before participating in it get some basic training as white water rafting is a risky sport and can be fatal if proper care is not taken. One more thing, use comfortable loose clothes T-shirts (or other light and quick-dry clothing), floaters or shoes-sneakers, goggles, sunscream lotion and bug sprays during your rafting expedition. Don't miss out to carry, a wind proof jacket, a light sweater, towels, and a flashlight- and don’t miss out the first aid box and the camera .
